Lost cat advice

Share this post:

Go out looking round your house, it is more than likely that your cat has got lost and is not too far away.  Shout his/her name. Knock on neighbours doors and ask if anyone has seen him/her.  Leave food out.

When searching take your house as the centre of a square, and remember, cats do not follow roads; they go up and over walls and fences; look in all directions.

Try not to worry!  80% of lost cats return within 1 week.

Stray cats are often picked up by a member of the public and taken into their own home, a cat rescue centre or the local vet.

  • Social Media: The power of social media is fantastic for spreading the word about lost pets. Put a post on your own page and ask people to share. Also post to as many places as possible. Share with your local town page, cat groups, Lost Cat pages, local police force, local shelters etc.
  • Phone round local vets, they sometimes see animals which have been found, and will have a list of them.       Also ask if they can share a picture of your pet on their social media page.
  • Contact your Local Rescue Centre
